There's a bunch of geeks that have made a pilgrimage to Vancouver for the WS-I meetings. Heavy lifting work will be going on getting Web services to be more interoperable. When they aren't geeking out, they are throwing themselves off of mountains and eating out. I've updated my ratings of Vancouver restaurants for the occasion. Any restaurants in downtown or yaletown are walking distance or 5 minute cab ride from the Palisades. Stepphos, Miko, Villa Del Lupo, Le Gavroche, Le Crocodile, Mondo Gelatto are recommendations for downtown. It's also worth the 10 minute trip to the broadway area for Banana Leaf, Tojos or Vijs. Enjoy!
PS. Y'all have proof that it rains all the time in vancouver.

If one is going to the Broadway area and feels the need for meat, the Memphis Blues BBQ restaurant is also worth checking out. They now also have a location on Commercial.

hello i just wanted to comment & was wondering if the comment could be added.
Please do not tip at India Gate restaurant. Owner never gives the tips to the employees and keeps the tip. They are scamming the customers and employees by keeping the tips. It will be fair if customers do not tip.
thanx

Hey - we just ate at Minato based you your review and we were really impressed. It isn't the absolute best sushi we've ever had however it is easily the best deal - perfectly adequte fish in absolutely massive portions for a really low price.

There's another Banana Leaf on Denman, a few blocks from the original Mondo Gelato. It's good. The Raincity Grill (at Denman near Davie) also gets great reviews, but I've yet to try it.

Hey Dave, you listed Monsoon twice. Once as 4/4 and once as 3/4. What's up with that?

You may hear that food at the Green Lettuce restaurant on Kingsway is good, but make sure you know exactly what food to order. The menu does not provide a description of the dishes, so you can order fish with chili sauce and get deep fried fish sticks smothered in cold sauce. And do not rely on getting good service either. When you ask about food items, the server will tell you "it's good", and not bother to give a thorough explanation of the dish. Lastly, you are held responsible for knowing how you want your food cooked, even when the menu and your server do not tell you so, you better tell them you want your food fried if you want to eat solid fat for dinner. And if you are less than satisfied with the food, do not complain. The manager will just tell you she's got "no time for this" and make a scene to offend you. Although this restaurant gets highly praised, don't expect much, it's literally a hole in the wall and you're better off going to the Chili restaurant down the street.
