Grouse Grind Pictures and Gavin

This past weekend Sandy's cousin Gavin was keen to do the Grind. He's 6 years old and never done it before. Sandy and I decided that we'd be glad to go up with the little guy. Which meant I wasn't doing my usual gogogogogo, and I could take some Grouse Grind pictures.

Wouldn't you know it, Gavin did amazingly well. He finished in 53 minutes! The record for the year for under 12 years old is 49 minutes. His splits were 29 and 24 minutes for the halves. The 2nd half is usually about 15% faster for us, so that's a normal kind of split. But it means he didn't lose any time on the second half either, a perfect race! Must have been the masterful advice he got from Uncle Sandy and moi. Of course, we were letting him know his splits fairly infrequently - only every minute or two :-)

We figure a few more times and he'll set the record... Wouldn't that be cool. Way to go Gavin!

Man, this looks like bloody hell, from earlier descriptions I thought it was more like a road going up and you guys running, not steps all the way! 8-)

Remind me to try it if I ever get to go to those parts of the world. 8-)
