One of the great pleasures in life is watching a meme spread out to people you know and don't know. And with the web, we can now track the spread of a meme.

I saw a few people that I know blog showing maps of where they've been, so I thought it would be neat to track some of the progress of this idea. Let's trace the time path. I don't know how many of these are causal.
Firstly, Cotton family tracks list of countries. Online, this is at Cecilia's blog in list of countries. No map on her site at the time.
Nov 21 2003. Norm Walsh, Paul Cotton and I talk about this at a TAG F2F. Norm blogs about this when he adds Japan, but no map.
Later that day, Mark Baker blogs about countries visited
Dec 30th 2003. I blog about countries visited and get lots of great suggestions for mapping software.
Feb 8th. Cecila blogs about map of her countries and states visited.
Feb 11th. Chris Ferris blogs about .
Feb 12th. My team ultimate friend Erin Dalzell blogs about countries visited, with maps visits
Feb 28th. I blog about blogs on countries visited and finally show my "map". North Americans might get this blog on the 27th, but that's because I'm stuck in a hotel not where I want to be because of Air Canada, yet again. I'll blog about the utter incompetence some other time.
I also took a look at google for countries visited and it shows 1.4 million hits. My blog entry shows up as #11!
