Shipbreaking

|

I first heard/saw about Shipbreaking in Asia when I attended a fundraiser where they were auctioning various photographs. The picture that most caught my eye was
Edward Burtynsky's

#11.

I couldn't *quite* justify the $2500 US that the picture sold for. The picture has stayed with me since then. I later saw that his works were being displayed in the Toronto Art Gallery.

Another photographer looking at shipbreaking is Jiri Rezac

A damning look at the environmental practices is provided by Greenpeace on Shipbreaking.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Michael Kot's National Film Board of Canada production of ShipBreakers at the Vancouver Film Fest.
