You know you want them! Photos that is!

I know what you want, no articles, you want the photo spread! New photos are on the New Kids on the Blog page starting with the rough car seat challenge.

What's new... The kids are home, sleeping in the crib. They have been amazing. Thank god for the nurses at Dogwood pavillion who let us keep the kids in the nursery the past 2 nights so Deanna could get some sleep. I've started shift work again, I have the graveyard shift.

We had a visit from a social worker, who said something I thought was just brilliant and true. Deanna and I are now like infants. We can sleep, eat, poop, etc. Pretty much nothing more. I can't even answer the phone half the time. Thank you for Karl and Marie for Monday dinner, John and Danita for Tuesday, Phil and Victoria for Thursday. We have a new algorithm for how to deal with people when they ask if they can help, and the new algorithm is to say "YES!". Deanna's parents have been just amazingly helpful, I don't know how we'd do it without their help.

Some other random thoughts: What's with all the contradictory opinions on child-raising? Holy cow, I think there isn't a single thing that has only 1 right answer.

1. Feed on demand or schedule or mix.
2. Sleep on back ( don't even think about front you evil sids inducing parent) or let them on the front or side if they are supervised and sleep better.
3. Give them as much food as they can take or limit the amount of food.
4. Wake them before 3 hours to feed or not?
5. Check for everything in the night feed or just for smell?

And more...

What's with the hospital theft? I mean really, stealing my cell phone charger and cash from mom's wallet?

Gotta go, I have bottles to clean for the next feed!

heh, brings back memories and we on had one at a time to deal with.. IIRC the trouble really starts when you run out of adrenaline in a couple of weeks time. Anyway you might be just about ready to read this (assuming you haven't seen it already):

1. We got lucky, Elise was on a 3 hour schedule right away.
2. We sleep her on her stomach during the day as she sleeps soooo much better that way.
3. As much as she wants...she sleeps better that way At least for us.

BTW...Holy Crap!!! Congrats!!!!

All the conflicting advise - what it tells you is that there is a tremendous range of normal, and room for individual infant and family needs. So, you can’t go wrong! Take the advise that works for you and your circumstance. If it doesn’t work, try something else. That’s OK also, to try different ways until you get what works for you. Babies are amazing for many reasons but one of the fortunate ways is that they are so resilient, and stronger than we think. I think they’re designed that way so they can withstand all our inexperience.

The most important thing is to recognize that everything that babies do is a message - they’re trying to tell you something about how their world is affecting them, and what they need to grow and develop. Your task is to open yourself to learning what they are telling you.
Look for more in an email.
Love, Mom

Twins! Talk about efficiency!! We are hoping for our first one in February and I hope ours come out just as well as yours! Congrats to you both!

Congrats!Dave. Didn't even know you were expecting. You will find that everybody has an opinion about what's right and wrong and basically you just have to pretend you are doing it right! ha! like carseats, eventually it might occur to you that your kids are crying all the time in the car and when you miraculously turn the seats around and they stop crying hmmmm. I decided it was a fine line between being distracted and increasing my chance of having an accident because of the kids screaming versus the slightly higher risk of injury to the children IF I had an accident. Nobody said it was easy. Glad you have tons of help!

They look just like daddy! Good news for the boy, the girl can still change. 8-)
