2 months old? Where does the time go?

Jan 12th was Bryce and Gwen's 2 month birthday. We went to the doc's on Jan 17th for the 2 month checkup and shots. Not quite the celebration they might have wanted :-)

They are both smiling occasionally, starting to reach for things, tracking moving objects. Bryce has learned a really cool trick. Our change table is a dresser with a movable mirror. He will lightly touch the mirror to move it, and look in the mirror to see reflection of a person or a light.

They have both more than doubled their birthweight. Gwen is now 10.9 lbs from 5.25 lbs at birth and Bryce is 14.1 lbs from 6.5 lbs at birth. That places Bryce off the growth charts. He's gaining 54 gms/day and she's gaining 42 gms/day. Length and head circumference are doing great as well. We were somewhat worried about her growth, but it turns out that any "slowness" in her growth is only an illusion because her brother is growing so fast.

Bryce has a bit of a heart murmur, so he went in for an ekg and a x-ray. We'll find out the results soon, hopefully no problems. They had their full set of 4 vaccination shots. They cried a bit and then went to sleep. A bit of a fever last night disappeared quickly.

They haven't slept through the night yet. It seems that 4 1/2 hours is the longest they will sleep. The introduction of very small amount of rice pablum to stay in their stomach was strongly rejected by the doctor. And for the record, I really don't need to hear from yet another person that their child has slept for 9 hours at a time from when they were 2 weeks old :-)

Thanks very much to Marie, Karl, Carole, Phil, Heidi and everybody else who's helped. You've all been wonderful.

It's amazing how time consuming it is to have two children. We've hired a nanny who will be starting full time in late January. Nanny Sue seems really great. She's had lots of experience as she ran a daycare for over 20 years.

I've been updating the pictures at flickr and the January pictures are in the January photo set
