I see that Style magazine has there most over-rated wines of the year. I agree with about half the ones I know: beaujolais, super-tuscans, chilean Cabernets are over-rated are really over-rated. But they go after 2 of my absolute favourites, Aussie Shiraz and Marlborough Sauvignon blanc. And they go after strength too, they have the amazingly great Mollydooker Boxer as one of the 2 Aussies. "Too often—especially among purported "values"—the wine is overoaked, overalcoholic, and overly reminiscent of Robitussin. Even worse, these wines are often so soulless (this despite the cute critters invariably found on labels) they could be hydroponic.". Youch! Our taste differences really show up in their 2nd sentence "While Syrah from the Northern Rhône is all masculinity and grace", whereas I generally think Northern Rhone and Tuscans just taste like dirt. A fun read none the less. Reminds me of trolling through the wine spectator reviews looking for the <80 pt reviews to see how ascerbic the comments could be.
