Experiments with Movable Type in Styles, Action Streams, and Templates

I'm going to have to finish off working with Movable Type for a little while for the day job and other night job, but I thought I'd summarize my learning so far.  Overall Movable Type 4.1 is a really great upgrade and both easier and more powerful than previous versions.

MT 4.1 Templates and Widgets - These are just great.  I've found it really easy to customize and create new template pages.  The addition of the MTIF macro is also great, I've used it to control whether a nav bar is inserted in the Header Template.

Widget Sets - These are also great and simple to use.  You can drag and drop widgets onto the widget set.  I created Google adsense and Action Stream widgets and then dragged them onto my 2 column and 3 column layouts.

Action Streams - An interesting addition that I'm exploring.  I'm not sure yet about the utility of gathering everything together, but let's take it for a whirl

Styles - This is an area that I'm just not that strong at yet.  My styles are a little messed up.  For some reason my styles.css file keeps getting overwritten.  I think it's because the indexes get rebuilt when a new action is found in the cron job, and part of index rebuilding is recreating the styles.css.  Not sure though, so I may have to turn of the new navigation bar.

Spam - Way way way down, just wonderful.  Maybe it's because my comments aren't working properly and I don't know it, but at least a few valid comments have come in without me having to do anything (yay!)
